Buy POS Systems at OZ Toner

POS systems usually fall over at the printer rather than the software, because the machine gets picked on price instead of on where it will sit. Thermal receipt printers like the Epson TM-M30III are built for a dry front counter. Put one on a kitchen pass and steam, heat and oil will darken or wipe the docket inside a shift.

Impact printers exist for that reason. The Epson TM-U220IIB strikes an inked ribbon onto the paper, so a kitchen ticket survives the heat that kills a thermal one. Mobile units are a third case again, running narrower rolls for a delivery run or a pop-up stand. Decide where the printer lives before you compare anything else, because that one answer rules out most of the range.

Check the Interface Before You Order

The digits after the dash on an Epson TM part number are the interface, not a revision. On the TM-M30III, the 201 and 202 codes are Ethernet and USB, while 231 and 232 are Bluetooth and USB, with the odd number white and the even number black. Order the wrong suffix and the hardware is right but the port is not.

Wi-Fi is often an add-on rather than a built-in feature, and the dongles are not interchangeable, so the OT-WL06-324 covers 2.4GHz and 5GHz where the older unit is 2.4GHz only. All-in-one terminals work the same way; the card reader is a build option, not something added later. Pair a terminal with a lockable till insert and one of our cash drawers, or compare the full receipt printers range on speed and connection type.

POS Hardware Questions

Should a kitchen printer be thermal or dot matrix?

Dot matrix. Impact printers strike an inked ribbon onto the paper, so the docket does not fade in heat or steam. Keep thermal units on the front counter, where the air is dry and the receipt is handled once.

What size receipt rolls do these printers take?

Desktop thermal printers commonly run 80mm rolls, while mobile and slip printers use narrower stock measured in inches. Check the width on the listing before ordering a carton of rolls, because the two sizes are not interchangeable.

Can I add Wi-Fi to a receipt printer that does not have it?

Often yes, using a wireless dongle made for that printer family. The dongles are not universal and the newer ones add 5GHz, so confirm your exact model is named in the listing before you order one.

Can a business order POS hardware on a purchase order?

Yes. Orders dispatch from our Eastern Creek NSW warehouse with ABN invoicing, and government and education buyers can order against a purchase order. Call 1300 871 158 for a quote across terminals, printers and label printers.
